my little guy is OBSESSED with the story of the three little pigs. interestingly enough, his favorite character is the big bad wolf. he was a wolf for halloween. he got wolf slippers for christmas. his favorite version of the story is the three little wolves and the big bad pig. OBSESSED i tell ya! so when i asked him what kind of party he would like to have for his third birthday, he immediately said, "a wolf party!" as i began scouring pinterest and the internet for ideas around that theme, i was surprised to find very few. so i had to get creative and step out of my comfort zones to make things like a wolf cake! here are some of the things we did:
i have to say my husband went above and beyond on this one. i asked him to build a three pigs beanbag toss thinking in would be a square board with three holes in it. we painted the bricks and used a combination of mod podge and hot glue to attach the straw and sticks. the kids LOVED this activity.
these adorable little beanbags were made by my mom. each of the kids got to take one home as a party favor. we adapted this pattern to make them. they are a combination of terry and felt and are filled with rice.
wolf cake! i just made two round cakes and cut the ears and snout from one of them. the gray icing was made by combining white icing and black food gel. i used a fork to make him look hairy:)
pig cookies! these are sugar cookies dyed pink. i baked a large circle with a small circle on top. the ears are strawberry wafers, the eyes are white chocolate disks with a dab of milk chocolate. i stuck chocolate chips in the nostrils while their cookies were still warm. it was hilarious to watch the kids methodically pick these cookies apart as they ate them.
and there you have it! i also made these fruit kabobs that i found on Pinterest. overall, i think the party was a success! (well except for the fact that i forgot forks for the cake!! wolves don't use forks anyway, right?
